After a huge roast at lunch time , the kiddywinks and I were a little too stuffed for a huge dinner on Sunday so I declared it an indoor picnic evening. Best chef’s hats and pinnys on, we spent the afternoon baking in preparation for such a momentous event.
Imogen and Joseph whisked up a storm “helping”Mummy make some cupcakes that Imogen was adamant she wanted to decorate with mini marshmallows. Whilst they covered my kitchen table and themselves in sticky cake mixture I got on with some savoury items. Cheese scones and cheese and tomato pin wheels, yum!
With added carrot and celery sticks, crisps, sausage rolls and strawberry milkshake the picnic was ready!
Now, I could have made the kiddywinks sit at the table but it was cold and they had started to watch Pinocchio so we turned our indoor picnic into a carpet picnic in front of the fire and some retro Disney.
The kiddywinks really enjoyed their “carpet nic nic” there were clean plates and full, happy tummies and it’s now bound to be a regular occurrence and using tough melamine tableware means that there is no chance of broken plates.
