I love finding unique and special items either for the kiddywinks, myself or as presents for family and friends and Notonthehighstreet.com is one of regular haunts. They carefully hand select only the finest of products (around the 50,000 mark) from the best independent British designers and manufacturers to ensure that you are 100% happy with your purchase. Notonthehightstreet.com recently got in touch to see if there was something I’d like for the purpose of this review and at the time World Book Day was fast approaching so I could think of nothing better than this Butterfly Fairy Fancy Dress.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar has been one of Imogen’s favourite books since she was very small and it was only right that she chose a character from there to dress as. She wasn’t keen on dressing up as a chubby green caterpillar but she was very excited at the thought of dressing up as a butterfly.
Imogen’s dress arrived from Notonthehighstreet.com really quickly and she was keen to put it straight on, of course. It’s made by Frilly Lily, a name that I am familiar with as Imogen has an awful lot of doll’s clothes made by them so I knew the quality would be superb which it was and there was just so much of! The bodice is made from stretchy material similar to that of a swimming costume with layer upon layer of multi coloured chiffon attached at the bottom for the skirt and the back to create the wings. It also comes with a matching butterfly mask.
We ordered Imogen a size 4-6 and whilst the length is perfect unfortunately it was a little broad for her and the sheer weight of the fabric on the stretchy bodice pulls it down and unfortunately extenuates the fact, this does mean that there is pliantly of room to grow though.
At £45 it’s a little pricier than your average fancy dress costume but it’s far from that so I wouldn’t mind paying that again, Imogen has hardly taken in off in two weeks so we’ve had more than our money’s worth.
