Grow Your Own with Poundland

Whilst I wouldn’t consider myself to be green fingered, I’m certainly no stranger to a spot of gardening.  The kiddywinks and I love growing our own but buying all of the right equipment needed can be expensive.  Poundland stock a huge gardening range with everything from seed potatoes, potato planter, veg and salad seeds and the more decorative rose plants, flower seeds and bulbs and garden ornaments.  As a Poundland ambassador we were sent a variety of different products to put to the test.

Included in our package were seed potatoes, a potato planter sack, gardening gloves, a hanging basket, potato fertilizer, ostara strawberries, a sunflower kit, salad and herb seeds, all purpose plant food, flower bulbs, potting soil and a very cute meercat ornament.

We decided to get started with the potatoes and rehydrated the potting compost, this comes in a small package but when water is added it becomes 10 litres of rich potting soil.  A great idea and certainly makes it easier to transport home from the shops.  With some organic fertiliser added as well as some water they were placed up by the veg patch and are already growing very nicely, they’ll need another top up of soil soon.

The Ostara strawberries were then put in the strawberry planter and these seem to have made the best progress so far, although I’m sure that the sun has helped.  Imogen can’t wait to pick her first.

The little sunflower kit was a firm favourite with both Imogen and Joseph, it contains a small propagator, compost and sunflower seeds.  They’ve both planted their seeds and now that they’re just about ready to go into the garden the race is on to see whose will be the tallest.Poundland Sunflowers

The herb and salad seeds have all been planted in an upcycled wooden wine box and are being heavily guarded by our new Meercat friend.  Hopefully we’ll soon be enjoying salads and herbs straight from the garden.

I’m really impressed with the quality, variety and value for money from the Poundland range for the garden, it’s defiantly worth checking out for yourself.
