Prima Princessa Presents The Nutcracker DVD Review

Imogen stared ballet classes in September and is really enjoying them and spends most of her day skipping or dancing on tip toes around the house.  So, when Prima Princessa presents The Nutcracker arrived on DVD for her to review she couldn’t wait to get it on.

Stephanie Troeller and Mary Kate Mellow are the best friends behind Prima Princessa and understand how it can be expensive and difficult to take children to 3 hour long ballet performances.  Their shows are especially designed to expose 3-6 year olds to classical ballet in a fun and interactive way where they are encouraged to get up and dance along.

The DVD features excerpts of the Birmingham Royal Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker which is narrated by an animated fairy, complete with tutu and British accent, so that tiddlers can understand the plot.  In between acts students from the New York City Ballet teach ballet steps.

Imogen was glued to the DVD for the full hour it runs, joining in with ballet steps and was in complete awe of the dancers and their beautiful costumes.  She takes part in a show in February and it’s taught her some valuable steps.  It’s a great DVD that would make a wonderful stocking filler for any ballet obsessed little girl and I shall be getting the Prima Princessa Swan Lake for Imogen’s.

Prima Princessa Presents The Nutcracker is available from Amazon priced at just £5.99 and here’s a quick look at it.  There is more Prima Princessa fun as well as colouring in downloads available from www.primaprincessa.com
