Schleich Large Farm Review

Regular readers will already know what huge fans we are of Schleich, so it will come as no surprise that the kiddywinks were overjoyed when Schleich asked if they’d like to review the new Large Farm set!

Schleich Large Farm

Upon opening the box it became very clear that the farm set would need quite some assembly.  A booklet of full colour instructions is included and I’d fully recommend looking through it and sorting through parts for five minutes before attempting to put anything together as there are lots of pieces that look very similar, especially the barriers.

Schleich Farm Large

I put the farm together with the “help” of Imogen and Joseph, it was very straightforward and took just slightly over half an hour.  If you have gifting this set for Christmas though I would highly recommend assembling it before Christmas morning.

Schleich Large Farm

Once assembled the farm is mightily impressive in both it’s size and appearance.  It has lots of lovely features which include a large sliding door, plenty of opening doors and windows and a large roof section which can be removed for ease of play.

Schleich Large Farm

There are four figures included (farmer, pig, cow and calf) and lots of accessories including a wheelbarrow, fork, milk churn, crate, animal feed, straw and hale bales and something we can’t decide whether it’s potatoes or manure!

Schleich Large Farm

Inside the farm there are three different areas which are sectioned off with barriers, a grooming area with rubber flooring and a pen with straw bedding.  There are also two outdoor enclosures on one side and a large one on the other sectioned off with a wooden fence.

Joseph absolutely loves the moving parts on the set, in particular the “cow wash” the massage brush for the cow and calf.

The winch was another favourite and Joseph loved moving up and down and around the whole farm to feed the animals.  It reaches everywhere even outside and into the hayloft!

Schleich Large Farm

Both Imogen and Joseph have thoroughly enjoyed playing with the farm, they love all of the play features, accessories and adapting the farm for different animals.  Personally I love the imaginative play that it has encouraged as well as the attention to detail and quality of it that we always get from Schleich.

Schleich Large Farm

The Large Farm set is priced at £99.99 and would make any Schleich collector extremely happy. I think it’s great value for money as it’s extended the play value of the farm figures that we already had and it’s been played with non stop for a month now.  You can view the Schleich collection on full at www.schleich-s.co.uk.

Schleich Horse Club Pick Up with Horse Box Review

Back in the Summer Imogen was very lucky to be asked to review the Schleich Horse Club Riding Centre.  It’s still very much a well played with favourite of hers so she was obviously thrilled when she received the Pick Up with Horse Box also from the Schleich Horse Club range.

Schleich Pick Up with Horse Box

Inside the box you’ll find the pick up and horse box which does need a little assembly but it’s fairly straightforward and there’s a colour booklet with clear instructions.  There are also stickers to decorate the horse box which are plastic, great not only as they wear less but also if they need repositioning.

There is one horse included as well as a groom and driver figures and a whole host of accessories such as a saddle, brindle, a bay of hay and a bunch of carrots.

Schleich Pick Up and Horse Box

The roof of the horse box is fully removable for ease of play and has space for two horses as well as handy storage for saddles and other accessories, there’s even a space for food and water for the horses.

The pick up has doors that open with the driver fitting easily inside, there’s plenty of room in the back and the tail drops down to make it easy to off load.

Schleich Pick Up and Horse Box

There are lots of lovely moving parts and play features on this set and Imogen really loves that.  It’s made a great addition to her Schleich collection and extended her play possibilities with both the horse club figures and riding centre.  The quality is as you would expect from Schleich as is the attention to detail and it’s most certainly value for money.

Schleich Horse Club Riding Centre Review

Lucky Imogen received an awesome surprise from her friends at Schleich, the Horse Club Riding Centre, the latest addition to their Horse Club collection.

Schleich Horse Club Riding CentreI’m not quite sure what I expected but the box is huge and the contents extensive.  The horse stable itself does need assembly which, at times, does need a bit of brute strength but it doesn’t take long and the instructions are very clear and detailed.

Schleich Horse Club Riding Stable

When assembled there are four indoor stables and four outdoor paddocks for horses with the centre part of the roof being able to lift off completely to create an open air riding arena.  There are two horses (horse and foul) included as well as a rider figure and tonnes of accessories which include troughs, saddles, a bridle, hay bales and a sheet of stickers to enable you to personalise your riding centre just the way you want it.

Schleich Horse Club Riding Centre

Something Imogen loves about the riding centre is that she was able to move gates and fences as well as the roof so that it could work around her play.  Either making small, individual paddocks for the horses or one large one for horse shows and competitions.

Another thing she loved was the attention to detail, which is the same with all Schleich toys, the horses are beautiful as is the building itself.  She was impressed that the stable doors open as they should and have little working locks!

Schleich Horse Club Riding Centre

As you expect from Schleich the quality is also amazing and in my opinion it’s well worth it’s £99.99 price tag.  It’s really extended the play value of her other Schleich figures including other Horse Club figures and she’s had hours and hours of enjoyment from it already and I expect this to continue.

Educational Play the Schleich Way

We’re huge Schleich fans in this house with an ever growing and much loved collection of everything from dinosaurs to superheros with a variety of farm and zoo animals thrown in for good measure as well.

Recently the kiddywinks received some new additions to their Schleich family as I learnt all about Schleich’s new campaign “Education Play the Schleich Way”.  Schleich has created a 16 page brochure designed to be a guide to imaginative play and development.  It covers such as a balanced play diet, encouraging imagination and early language skills, the guide also comes with helpful hints and tips on how to get the best from your child’s playtime and how you can incorporate Schleich products.

I found the brochure really interesting, we all know to feed our kids a proper balanced diet but I did not know about the importance of a balanced play diet, that is until now.  The basics are that children need to spend their time enjoying different areas of play which include Social Play, Active Play, Creative Play and Free Play.

The brochure also has a variety of different game suggestions which can stimulate imaginative play and co-operative games which will encourage better team work.  The brochure is filled with loads of great tips including out and about play and how to develop early language skills as well. We’ve given lots of the suggested games a try and had a great time doing so, it’s wonderful to see them use their imaginations so much, and we’ll be giving the rest a try too.

Schleich figures are available from Schleich and start at just £2.99 and the brochure can be downloaded for free by clicking here.

Schleich Ice Elves Sleigh Review

My experience with Schleich is fairly limited and apart from the Smurfs Imogen received last year the only other figures I have ever seen are the huge selection of animals in our local Early Learning Centre.  I was clueless about their Knights, Dinosaurs (now on Joe’s Christmas list) or their Bayala fantasy range.  Schleich was founded in 1935 and the figurines became famous in 1950 with the production of comic figurines such as Smurfs, Snoopy and The Muppet Show.  Their toys remain just as popular today thanks to their amazing quality and hand finished details.

Imogen was sent the Ice Sleigh from the new “The Ice Elves” range which includes a beautiful Ice Sleigh, Ice Cat and an Ice Queen.  Both she and I were amazed when it arrived, it’s pure and simply just stunning!  It comes in a huge box which has a beautiful icey woodland background, this was far too pretty to throw away so it’s remained as a background for play with the Ice Sleigh.

Schleich Ice Sleigh

The Sleigh has lovely clear, ice runners and a white and ice blue seat for the Ice Queen with some very delicate details that remind Imogen of snowflakes.  The roof of the sleigh also flips back to turn it into an extra carriage making the sleigh convertible, perhaps for the Summer months in  Bayala – if there is such a thing.

Schleich Ice Sleigh

The Sleigh is pulled by a magical creature who Imogen called a wolf but when we took a look at the website turns out to be an Ice cat.  She, now originally called Snowflake by Imogen, is mainly white with a touch of blue and glitter on her tail.  She can also be taken out of the reins which lends to more versatile play.

Schleich Ice Sleigh

The Ice Queen, or Elf Enchantress as Schleich describe her, is Imogen’s favourite piece of the set.  She has icicle wings and a stunning white dress with a glittery shrug and pink waistband.

Schleich Ice Sleigh

The attention to detail of this is amazing and Imogen adores it.  It now take pride of place on top of the bookcase in her room and she’s saving up her pocket to build it into a collection with the rest of the Bayala range.
